No Coop decision regarding Israeli products
On Saturday April 10, The Consumer Cooperative Society Väst's annual meeting voted yes to three motions regarding boycott of Israeli products in Coop’s stores. Below please find KF’s (The Swedish Cooperative Union) and Coop’s position on trade boycotts.
What is KF’s and Coop’s position on trade boycotts?
KF’s and Coop’s standard when choosing suppliers is not to take any consideration to nationality. According to KF’s policy a trade boycott against individual countries shall be determined by the Swedish government or The European Union and/or The United Nations. By having country-of-origin labeling of goods we give our members and costumers to take position if they want to purchase products from certain countries.
What will happen with The Consumer Cooperative Society Väst’s motions?
The Consumer Cooperative Society Väst is one of 47 consumer cooperative societies included in KF, The Swedish Cooperative Union. The decision at Väst’s annual meeting on Saturday implies that they will pass the question about a possible boycott of Israeli goods onward to KF.
